Mathematics - Vedas and Arya Bhatt Part-3

2:13:9

Shatam vaa yasya dasha saakamaadya ekasya shrustau yaddha chodamaaveetha |
arajjau dasyuntsamunanbda bheetaye supraavyo abhavah sasyukthyh ||

Oh Indradev, you have provided protection to those who do charity. Ten Hundred (One thousand) horses drive your chariot. You destroyed the devils of Dadhichi Rishi without any bondage, and became his friend. You are worth to be praised.

Here the phrase used is "Ten Hundred" for one thousand.

2:14:6

Adhvaryavo yah Shatam shambarasya puro bibhedashmaneva purvih |
Yo varchinah shatamindrah sahsramapaavapabhdrata somamasmai ||

Oh Adhvarya, bring Soma Ras for the Indra, who destroyed One Hundred cities of the Devils, and killed Thousand children of Varchik (a devil)

This richa is yet another prove that shows the Vedic Rishis were aware of powers of ten. This is only possible with the knowledge of Zero. Hence the knowledge of Zero predates Arya Bhatta.

2:18:1

prÀtÀ ratho navo yoji sasniÌ caturyugas trikaÌaÏ saptaraÌmiÏ |
daÌÀritro manuÍyaÏ svarÍÀÏ sa iÍÊibhir matibhÁ raÎhyo bhÂt ||

This new Chariot has been equipped this morning. It has FOUR yugas, THREE whips, SEVEN rays, and TEN wheels. May this be moving for ever for our betterment. This can take us to heaven

The inner meaning of this richa is very deep and shows a new angle of spirituality. But for our discussion, the numbers used in this richa shows the knowledge of ZERO being known to the Rishis much earlier then Arya Bhatta.

 2:18:2
sÀsmÀ aram prathamaÎ sa dvitÁyam uto tÃtÁyam manuÍaÏ sa hotÀ |
anyasyÀ garbham anya  jananta so anyebhiÏ sacate jenyo vÃÍÀ ||

This chariot takes Indra dev to the heaven during the FIRST or SECOND  or THIRD period of the day. This will fulfill all the wishes of human. All the singers here sing songs for Indradev, who has expanded the Universe beyond.

2:18:4
À dvÀbhyÀÎ haribhyÀm indra yÀhy À caturbhir À ÍaËbhir hÂyamÀnaÏ |
ÀÍÊÀbhir daÌabhiÏ somapeyam ayaÎ sutaÏ sumakha mÀ mÃdhas kaÏ ||

Oh Indradev, come near us, to drink Soma ras with your TWO, FOUR, SIX, EIGHT or TEN  horses. This soma ras has been prepared for you. Please don't wage a war for this.

See the sequence, all even numbers.

2:18:5
 À viÎÌatyÀ triÎÌatÀ yÀhy arvÀÇ À catvÀriÎÌatÀ haribhir yujÀnaÏ |
À paÈcÀÌatÀ surathebhir indrÀ ÍaÍÊyÀ saptatyÀ somapeyam ||

Oh Indradev, come near us to drink soma ras, on a chariot with TWENTY, THIRTY, FORTY, FIFTY, SIXTY or SEVENTY horses

See the sequence, multiples of ten. Is it possible without the basic knowledge of number ZERO ?

2:18:6
ÀÌÁtyÀ navatyÀ yÀhy arvÀÇ À Ìatena haribhir uhyamÀnaÏ |
ayaÎ hi te ÌunahotreÍu soma indra tvÀyÀ pariÍikto madÀya  ||

Oh Indradev, the soma ras has been kept in a beautiful pot. So you come to us with EIGHTY, NINETY or HUNDRED horses.

Multiples of Ten upto one hundred.

                                          Continued ......
